How about a forum section (SHARE) where people can SHARE their stuff. Requests are fine but where do I put my post when I got "XY" for the others to d/l?

That's one of the forums we used to have, but haven't brought back yet. We were thinking about adding all the old forums as the board slowly got bigger. Since we've reached the 1000 member mark, we may think about re-adding it soon.

i hope this would have something like a "you need 20 posts to reply" rule cause else everything shared would die pretty fast.

I would assume that the same rules that govern requests etc would apply here oberon

Doom9 has a hack that will not let you make a new thread or reply for 5 days from the point of registry. If this can be used for selective forums...it would solve request and public ftp problems very easily :)

i guess it's possible to edit the code to make it 20 days or add a post limit too?

yeah...it should be no prob editing lockdown so that the user would have to be active for certain amount of days and have a certain number posts...

but...this is a large reason the board died before...too many leechers, killing the server... I'd hate to see the board die again...:(

maybe we could hide the whole sharing section to users with less than 50 posts so all the leechers wouldnt even think there is something and leave again.

How about opening only the privet FTP section where only selected members will be allowed in, it will keep off all the leechers and will ease up on the server traffic.
