I saw this posted on another board! This is very usefull since ms messenger is not in add remove programs in win xp pro!
to uninstall MSN messager
- Step 1: Shut-down Messenger if it is running.
- Step 2: Click the Start button, then click Run.
- Step 3: Type: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove and press OK.
Now why would anyone want to do that? Microsoft makes very high-quality software!! :D :D
MSN is great, imo, although i use trillian anyways
alternatively, you can edit sysoc.inf (located in your windows/inf/ folder) and remove from the linemsmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
the word HIDE between the two commas, leaving those in place. save the file, and you can now remove the pesty messenger via the control panel like any other installed program.

Or use "XP Antispy", which isn't a bad idea anyway...
