Yet another in the line of C&C/RA games. With C&C:R and TS not being the success they had hoped for, this game is obviously trying to grab people back into the series, to provide some proof that they werent' a one-hit-wonder with C&C the original

The question is, will people play this new game?
its RTS, which is always good, except for when it comes to 3D worlds.
Empire Earth, and Warcraft III are good examples, but there are listless ones, including DarkReign2 which have failed when porting to the 3D realm.

Initial reaction on wht C&C:G looks like....very nice, except don't pretend your computer will run it smoothly without some SERIOUS power already existing on it.

Personally, only one I would download, not even consider buying, until extensive gameplaying has shown me wether this game can cross the dimension divide

It will be a refreshing view to play CC like that but i still don't get excited... (Well, i never really bothered playing C&C much at all ) :)

I'm pretty much sick of RTS games in general, the entire genre is just stale.. even WC3 only managed to keep me entertained for a little while

I'm interested maybe it's a good RTS...
Sure there are no innovations except for graphics.

Btw I'm still paying Renegade in sp . How many mission are there? doyou know where i can get a walkthrough?

UF7 must be in heaven as he is a huge C&C Fan. Oldtimers to the board will know who I mean

It all comes down to sophistication.
Some RTS games can be great fun, if they give the player enough freedom instead of the standard Build Base. Build 5 Tanks. Kill Enemy.
If some of you remember Earth 2140, it was a 3d RTS but it gave the player freedom by enabling him to develop his own units, thus pretty much setting a path in the game.
If Generals will allow the player to design his own units, I'm definitely getting it, if not, well, it has pretty good graphics nevertheless...

Designing your units is a gimick, it can only sustain a game so much.. it'll still be the exact same rts formula underneath.. frankly the biggest flaw in RTS games is the lack of actual strategic and tactical elements. The only RTS I'm really looking forward to is Rise of Nations..

I agree partially with that.
Empire Earth is a very complicated game, because of the time it spans. However, it spans too much, which makes it slow, which makes it (for me at least) boring.
Age of Empires 1/2 are both guilty of this, Celtic Kings -Rage of War seems a little guilty of this, as does Age of Wonders.

Why did I pick those as examples?
They are all in the RTS/partially TBS section, but all rather unique in their implementation, and great games by themselves, just in parts, too damn slow.

Bane39 said something along the lines of "this genre has been milked to death" (not exactly in those words, but you get the point). If those games had have been released 2, or perhaps 1 year ago, they would have been bigger than erm..something big.

While sure, they might have alot of sales, I bet you they won't have as many dedicated players as the "less" sofisticated StarCraft or WarCraft, which only add a few new bits, but mainly are successful due to the easy in playing, and the speed

looks pretty interesting, but only time will tell how good it'll be.

Nice gfx, but still the same old C&C. Nothing will change.
WarCraft 3 rules :)

Kind of strange attitude there xShell. By that logic, any sequel can only be prettier than the original, not any better...so WC3 must suck because its the same thing :p

Well call me different, but I can't wait for Generals. I've played every C&C game there is, add-ons, and a helluva lot of custom maps. I bought all of the major releases. Gotta support them if you still want them to make them. I must admit, I would have preferred if they had have left Generals 2D. Big gamble me thinks.

And I am totally over Warcraft3.

cheers

I'm anxiously awaiting this one as well. So far I still liked the original Command & Conquer (and Dune 2). Hopefully this one brings that feeling back. A bit of nostalgia I guess :)
