Is there going to be a minimum post count before requesting?
Just thought I would check before replying to any...

yeah i thought about that. just see how it goes. if it works like it is now then will keep it, but if not then it will be brought in.

Well, just replied to someone with 3 posts bragging about being the first to request in applications, and no, it most definately wasn't with the wish to fill his request. Heheheh.
Problem is people do take the piss with requests.
I preferred the old method of 20 posts 30 days i believe it was, but i'd personally set it much harder to get access to, but thats just cos i'm a mean cunt :p

another thing is to implement the rule only request things that are atleast 14 days out because if its fresh you have the best chance of getting it yourself but when its older and you have missed it a request should be legit

I think that is way too long of a time to wait before requesting for something...The 2 or 3 day policy did work great around here and think it was valid time to wait before requesting a new Item...

it's breaking... the last few hours have seen an influx of new users requesting with very low post counts - just 1 or 2 in some cases.

I think the best thing (if it's possible) is to have a post limit at which the request forums even become visible, so they're hidden to sub X number posters. It's a little harsh, but if the users don't know that the forums exist, and they stick around to post a little, after, say 20 posts or so, they are "rewarded" (used loosely) with the request forums. This way we'll find out who wants to stick around for the board, or who just wants to download everything.

what about the leech counter.. is that coming back too.. I know some people complained about it being kinda unfair.. but just keep it private.. sorta guilt trip people into participating before requestin

Yeah, I liked the leech count thing, but way I saw it implemented on another board (i think they ripped it off you and changed it a bit) was good.
They had lockdown on and it only counted as a leechy if you replied, that way you didn't get penalised for looking, thinking not what i want so not leeching.
But then again, this is really immaterial as we have no ftp section.....

A small question or shall I say suggestion: would it not be pleeeease possible to put the text: "must have 10 posts before you can request" into the description of request sections, or the main one, or as a sticky post with the title RULES in all request sections? It would eliminate the excuses of members not seeing this rule which is really not visible enough. This way even if they do not bother to look at general section, if it is a sticky in request section, then they just have to read that when entering, and perhaps there were less arguments. Please consider this suggestion.
