View Full Version : Windows 2000 SP3
Anyone tried it yet? Does it work with *our* CDKey? I'm thinking of installing it on my friends *to be* workstation computer. It needs to be completely stable, it's going to be an audio creation computer.

As far as i know it works perfectly .. BUT!
and this is a big but .. you NEED to deactivate the automatic update, otherwise youre *beeped*
there are also released versions of the service pack that has disabled everything and has made sure it works with the previously released versions.

hmm i think it's like a game. 50% it will do fine, 50% it will destroy your system.

It worked fine on my system, but I've no idea what *our* key is ;)
I didn't even know about the automatic-update stuff until I saw a thread in here. Why does that screw ya?
I can't believe for one second that Microsoft will chase up EVERY count of software piracy.

No, I don't think that would be possible, but I like it to be on the safe side... :)

Mork: True, I suppose :) But he'd have to buy Mars or something, construct a planet-size prison, and send all the offenders there.
'cos there sure ain't enough room in all the Earth prisons put together to put the Microsoft pirates! :)

I have heard that it does do some snooping and phoning home on PIDs.... however I don't think that it will hose your system.
The way M$ gets away with this one is in the license agreement...READ the fine print, it grants uncle bill permission to snoop

um mork is so wrong microsoft is working on os's right now even one that is on the verge of being released soon. There is of course the next windows that will come out soon (1-2 years) Then there is the windows tablet edition which will be in a lot of new tablet style computers. Last is windows ce since there is so much wireless inivations going on in palm's the os has to keep up (although microsoft didn't seem to have that theory making any other windows). So in fact they are doing lots of stuff and you also got to think about all there side projects like xbox2 xbox live buying up other companys, and downloading warez off the internet cause hey we know there getting it the same way as us or why else are we still doing it?
