Sam & Max, interactive entertainment's most beloved canine and rabbit combo, hit the road again first quarter 2004 in a long awaited adventure comedy sequel for Windows PC from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC. The follow up to the critically acclaimed 1993 adventure classic Sam & Max Hit the RoadŽ will dispatch the Freelance Police into a wild world of screwy and vaguely quixotic missions. Each one will be jam packed with nerve-jangling action, brain-busting puzzles, and the kind of easygoing banter one might expect from a talking dog and a naked, hyperkinetic bunny.

Sam & Max are based upon the "Sam & Max Freelance Police" comic book series created by Steve Purcell. LucasArts' Michael Stemmle, co-director of the award-winning original game, will direct the sequel.

"Sam & Max Hit the Road is a classic and as close to being a signature game as any LucasArts has ever done," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "The Sam & Max sequel, much like the recently announced Full ThrottleŽ II, perfectly complements LucasArts' renowned adventure game legacy and lends further support to the company's commitment to investing in and developing more of our original properties."

I just hope they dont screw it with 3D-gfx and gay console controls as Monkey Island 4...

I wouldn't be surprised if they do go 3D..companies just aren't willing to spend all that money and more importantly time having their games hand drawn anymore... the interface I don't know..

Great news. I'll look forward to seeing what they do with it. "Sam & Max" and "Day of the Tentacle" were and still are absolute classics. If you've never played them, get them. And make sure you get the speech + music, or you're missing the excellent voice characterizations.

cheers

I hate to say this but ... I TOLD YOU SO! .... after fullthrottle 2 they HAVE to make sam'n'max 2 ...

as for sam'n'max 3d ... NO FRIGGIN WAY .. the comicbook lovers wont allow it .. and neither would i.

Next stop is probably DOTT2 and Indy V. (FOA was 4 right?)

Just as long as they keep the completley off the wall sense of humour and completely abstract puzzles I'll be fine.
Also, they'd better get the gfx right, or it'll be completely wasted.

Ahh.. Love it.

Now i only hope they do DOTT 2.

Even though DOTT is centuries old (for a game) it still is one of the
best adventure/humour games.

Yes, DOTT was one of the best adventure games ever, ever :)
Although, wouldn't it be Maniac Mansion 3 rather than DOTT 2, since DOTT was a sequel to Maniac Mansion?

Hmm thats right ... but Dott wasnt really a sequel .. it was more like a spinoff :)

btw you know you can play the entire version of maniac mansion inside of dott right?

just use the stampcollecting guys computer :)

Woohoo,
I really loved Sam & Max! Those games (Monkey Island 1 - 4, Zack McCracken, Maniac Mansion and DOTT) were among the few ones I ever completed.

I'm already counting the days! :)

Sweeet!!

As for the 3D graphics, I thought monkey island 4 was ok, so I guess it's okay if they do it 3d but they gotta do it just right or it'll suck.

I always loved the old lucas arts adventure stuff, maniac mansion, DOTT, Full Throttle. I also liked the old sierra police and kings quest games too, before they went 3d of course.

Looking forward to this. I don't have any major objections to LucasArts going 3D in general (I thought Monkey Island 4 was okay), but I agree that for Sam and Max they need to keep the same appearance as the cartoon.

ahh the good ol games. I lost my sam& max cd a long time ago(i lent it out to a friend, who lent it out to a friend.. etc), and i have the urge to play it again. Those games were the best, much better than anything today.. to me.

I read in PCPowerplay, (Aus mag), the other day that this title is in doubt now. Apparently the company making it are in financial woe. Any truth in the rumour?

cheers

Sam & Max was one great adventure game from Lucasarts and I still install it from time to time, just to have a go at it again. I'm sure many of you know that Full Throttle 2 is also in the works. And of course, there is going to be one final Monkey Island game, which will hopefully not be aimed at 5 year old kids.

Let's look in my cellar, If I'm lucky I will find my full collection of King Quest, Space Quest & Police Quest (before SWAT)...

Funny, but another thread is going in that direction ... Now no-one is finishing games, not like in the good old time
