Sure thing...Here comes. I played a couple of games last night...
Not that many approvals to the last version. I think it easier and funnier to play than 2K2 though. Hard to get your big hits working. You can manually control how a player dekes. On the most difficult level it was still pretty easy to score against the computer... Especially the one-timers in front of the goal were an easy way to score. I also liked the movie at the start when real nhl-players were shouting out "EA sports" and "It's in the game" :) ...What else ... the interface in the main window looked really nice, but of course you weren't able to change any options. It also looked like the game will have somekind of possibility of playing your own music, in different situations... I'll try the game out as a multiplayer game this weekend... I think it'll be much more fun than 2k2.
That's what I can tell you after 30 mins of play... Lets hope this helped your excitement... :D

i also think it will be more fun than 2002.
this time they actually made some of the changes fans asked
without overdoing them. one thing has been overdone again, though. now there are almost no hits at all, when in 2001 & 2002 the whole thing was dominating the game. the players
were falling from the slightest touch.
i did manage to get the glass break, though. :)
so i didn't get much hits, which made the defending harder
but still the computer couldn't score once even in the 'difficult' level. for me, however scoring was quite easy.
winning 3-0 your first match on hardest level doesn't look too good. i guess the fans have to make the game harder again :p
anyway, the gameplay reminds me more of nhl 2000 than
the two previous versions, and i like it.
the players are moving more smoothly, but i don't know about
these new dekes. looks like a bunch of offsides coming in multiplayer games :)
the goalies are as hesitate as always saving and getting the puck from the corner.
+++ players can tap in the puck that's laying on the goal line even when they are almost past the goal. i had a couple of good 2-1 attacks finished like this.
++ glass is breaking again, baby! :D
+ there's more time than before to think about what you do instead of just beating the shit out of your keyb trying to ge SOMETHING done.
---- scoring's too easy
--- where are the hits? although i still like it better than the previous versions
-- the pre-game animation is boring and you can't go past it, hopefully you can in the actual game, the in-game animations are nice and quite funny, but nothing to do with the actual events that took place in the game just before.1
- didn't see any fights yet :(

thanks for the review, played it last night, I like it, graphics are better, and sound seems improved. Ofcourse this is a very slimmed down version so no commentary or much in the way of tweaking. Can't seem to find the turbo button though . Cant wait for the full
